The participation of the high-level delegation in the forum reflects Vietnam’s proactive and responsible role in international and regional issues, while presenting Vietnam’s stance on security and development matters of regional and international concern.
After the Beijing Xiangshan Forum, the delegation will pay an official visit to China from October 26 to 28 at the invitation of Chinese Defence Minister Senior Lieutenant General Wei Fenghe.
As part of the visit, Minister Lich will hold talks with his Chinese counterpart, meet leaders of the Central Military Commission, and pay courtesy calls to a number of Party and Government senior officials.
The visit aims at enhancing the friendship between Vietnamese and Chinese parties, governments, and armies. It will help boost mutual understanding and trust between high-ranking officials of the two armies and accelerate the implementation of the two defence ministries’ joint vision statement on defence cooperation to 2025.
Initiated by the China Association of Military Science in 2006, the Beijing Xiangshan Forum, whose original name was Xiangshan Forum, has developed into a high-level security and defence forum in Asia-Pacific. This year, it is themed “Building a New Type of Security Partnership of Equality, Mutual Trust and Win-Win Cooperation”.
