Wrestlers compete in Thai Nguyen
(VOV) - More than 200 wrestlers from 19 provinces across the country are taking part in National Wrestling Championships that opened in the northern province of Thai Nguyen on October 11.
Wrestlers are competing in one of three events: Greco-Roman for men, and free-style for both men and women.
In the men’s event, athletes are competing in weight categories ranging from 50-120kg, while female athletes are participating in various categories from 44-72kg.
The organising board will select the best from a range of young athletes for the national team.
Immediately after the opening ceremony, Nghiem Dinh Dat from the Public Security team won a decisive victory against Nguyen Quoc Trieu from Hanoi in the male Greco-Roman event.
The tournament will last through to October 17.
