Women’s volleyball World Cup qualifiers begin in Quang Tri

(VOV) -The second qualifying round of the Women’s Volleyball World Cup for the Southeast Asia region started in the central province of Quang Tri on June 15.
The event has attracted teams from Indonesia, the Philippines, Myanmar, and hosts Vietnam.
Vietnam easily defeated the Philippines 3-0 in its first match on the opening day.
Philippine coach Roger Gorayed admitted the defeat and hoped the qualifiers will help his young players, mostly high school students, gain valuable experience for their upcoming international competitions.
General Secretary of the Vietnam Volleyball Federation Tran Duc Phan said with stronger players in its lineup, Vietnam is determined to win the tournament and enter the next qualifiers for Asian region that will be held in Tokyo, Japan, this September.
