Women footballers leave for AFF Cup
(VOV) - The U19 Vietnamese women’s team has departed for Thailand to compete in the 2014 ASEAN Football Federation (AFF) Cup taking place from August 16-26.
To prepare for the event, the team participated in a one-month training camp at home, and played in four friendly matches, defeating Son La (Vietnam) 3-0, drawing with Uzbekistan 0-0, triumphing Uzbekistan 1-0, and beating U13 Hanoi men’s team 3-0.
After the last match, coach Nguyen Duy Hung selected athletes to field the team to play at the AFF in Thailand.
At the 2014 AFF Cup, Vietnam will face Singapore on August 18, Timor Leste on August 20, Thailand on August 22, and Myanmar on August 24.
