Well-known Canadian vocalist to regale Hanoi

Internationally acclaimed Canadian vocalist Mélanie Gall will perform at the Vietnam National Academy of Music in Hanoi on March 21 as part of the International Francophonie Week.

Her concerts, shows and workshops have spanned the globe, from Laos, Cambodia, Vietnam and Thailand in Southeast Asia, to Sudan and Chad in Africa, with a repertoire of French songs imbued with her Canadian identity.

She has written and toured several solo shows throughout Canada and the US.

These include: My Pal Izzy, based on the early life of American composer Irving Berlin, The Sparrow and the Mouse: Creating the Music of Edith Piaf, about French chanteuse Edith Piaf and her half-sister Simone, and More Power to Your Knitting, Nell!, featuring knitting music from WWI and WWII.

The award-winning singer has taught and led voice and performance master classes in over a dozen schools in America, as well as in Canada, Europe and North Africa.

Her concert, organised by the Embassy of Canada in Vietnam, will be held at 7pm on March 21 at the Academy, located at 77 Hao Nam Street.
