War Minutes to be published in English

VOV.VN - The Vietnam Writers' Association has decided to translate the war novel 'Bien Ban ChienTranh 1-2-3-4.75' (War Minutes January-April, 1975) written by veteran journalist Tran Mai Hanh into English.

It aims to help world readers understand the Vietnamese people’s struggle for national liberation and desire for peace.

The novel was published by the National Political Publishing House for the first time in April 2014 and the second time in April 2015. It has been highly appreciated by readers and won the Vietnamese Literary Awards in 2014 and the South East Asian Writers Awards in 2015.

The novel covers the historic fall of the American-backed Sai Gon regime and the fate of most of its leaders.

The 19-chapter work is based on interviews with and confessions of figures in key positions in the Sai Gon regime. It depicts in detail the collapse of defence lines around Sai Gon by drawing on original telegraphs, meeting minutes of regime leaders, newspaper articles and Sai Gon radio broadcast between January and April of 1975.

The work included documents collected by writer Hanh since April 30, 1975, which were considered top secret minutes of the puppet government.
