Vietnam’s short documentaries screened in the US

(VOV) - Three of Vietnam’s short documentaries will be screened at 13 famous universities in the US this month.

The Centre for the Advancement of Movie Talents of the Vietnam Cinema Association says they are Khi ta 20 (When We were Twenty) by Nguyen Anh Thu, Nhoc nhan than (Hard Time of the Coal Miners) by Nguyen Minh Phuong, and Cho toi mot ve ve tuoi tho (Give Me a Ticket to My Childhood) by Le My Cuong. 

“When We Were Twenty” which is about three girls who have different career choices at the age of 20 already won the Golden Lotus Bud Award in 2010.

“Hard Times of the Coal Miners” about the coal miners’ life in a harbor, also received the Silver Lotus Bud Award in 2010 and a certificate of merit from the Vietnam Cinematography Association.

“Give Me a Ticket to My Childhood” about the relationship between a young boy, his elder sister and parents got the Golden Lotus Bud 2012.

Three filmmakers Nguyen Anh Thu, Nguyen Minh Phuong, and Le My Cuong and two film directors from the Blue Productions will come to the US to have an exchange with American audiences.

Costs for the visit will be covered by the Institute for Vietnamese Culture and Education (IVCE).
