Vietnamese performances leave strong impression at Châteaudun carnival parade in France
VOV.VN - Vietnamese cultural performances left a strong impression on the public at the second Châteaudun carnival parade, themed “A Wonderful World”, held on April 4 by the municipal authorities of Châteaudun in Eure-et-Loir, central France.
This year’s parade brought together 20 associations, led by the France-Vietnam Friendship Association of Eure-et-Loir, featuring a range of activities including parades, fashion presentations, stage performances and music, along with outdoor games and shows.
In addition to revolutionary songs, Hợp Ca Quê Hương (Homeland Choir), a choir group of the Vietnamese community in France, drew particular attention with the play Gặp nhau giữa nhân gian (Meeting in the human world).
Inspired by Vietnamese folk characters and legends, the play incorporates elements of humour from modern society through the lens of a younger generation, depicting unexpected encounters between heavenly deities and humans, leading to the formation of a choir.
Meanwhile, stage and street combat performances by members of the Son Long Quyen Thuat Club of Eure-et-Loir impressed audiences with decisive, fluid and powerful movements, reflecting the spirit of Vietnamese martial arts and the resilience of the Vietnamese people.
The Nam Phuong Association presented a showcase of traditional Vietnamese costumes, recreating the figures of Au Co and Lac Long Quan and introducing designs inspired by Hue royal attire, featuring distinctive dragon and phoenix motifs.
Olivier Barbey, head of the Son Long Quyen Thuat Club of Eure-et-Loir, described it as a space for cultures to “meet and blend”. Hai Vanna Nguyen Phuoc, representing the Nam Phuong Association, expressed pride in bringing images of Vietnam to the French public.
Leroux Stéphanie, a representative of the Châteaudun carnival organising committee, said combining this year’s “A Wonderful World” theme with Vietnamese cultural activities brings “real added value”, contributing to a colourful and symbolic atmosphere. She added that the presence of Vietnamese groups, with their imaginative and artistic elements, enriches the festival space and complements it harmoniously, highlighting cultural exchange.
The increasingly active and growing participation of Vietnamese associations has helped expand cultural exchange, strengthening friendship and mutual understanding between Vietnam and France.
