Vietnamese outfit voted as best costume in 2023’s global pageants

The costume, created by local designer Nguyen Le Vinh Tuong, features the main red colour on an Ao Dai (Vietnamese traditional long dress) bearing an image of a dragon. It represents the national pride and solidarity of Vietnamese people, as well as the resilience of Vietnamese women.

Second position in the Vcrown vote was a national costume worn by Miss Universe 2023 Sheynnis Palacios which draw inspiration from a bird originating from Nicaragua.

An outfit worn by Indonesian beauty Cindy Inanto at the Miss Earth 2023 pageant which was organised in Vietnam came third.

Le Hoang Phuong, 28, was named the fourth runner up at Miss Grand International 2023 during the grand finale which was held in Ho Chi Minh City on October 25 last year. She also won the best national costume prize, alongside other contestants from Japan and Nigeria.

Phuong, who is also an architect and model, stands at 1.76 metres tall with body measurements of 87-63-95. She has previous experience competing in beauty pageants and clinching a Top 5 finish at Miss Universe Vietnam 2022.

Earlier she was named among the Top 20 Finalists of Miss Vcrown 2023. Phuong was the only Vietnamese representative to be called to the list.

Vcrown, a publication on beauty pageants, organised the Miss Vcrown battle to select the most outstanding beauties, all of whom gained titles at major international beauty contests in 2023, including Miss Universe, Miss International, Miss Earth, Miss Grand International, and Miss Supranational.
