Vietnamese marksman fails to enter Olympic final round

Marksman Hoang Xuan Vinh, Vietnam’s second hope of winning a medal at London 2012, has been knocked out of the qualifying round.
Vinh gained 582 points at the men’s 10m air rifle event, ranking ninth out of 44.
According to his coach Nguyen Thi Nhung, Vinh left the competition with a good result, which was only one point behind Portugal who won the last place in the final round.

Thus at the end of the first day at the Olympic Games, three out the of the four Vietnamese athletes competing on that day were knocked out of the competition, including judoka Van Ngoc Tu.
