Vietnamese film days commemorate war invalids and fallen soldiers
VOV.VN - The Vietnam Film Institute is holding a series of Vietnamese film screenings from July 21 to 23 in tribute to war invalids and martyrs, marking the 78th anniversary of War Invalids and Martyrs Day (July 27, 1947–2025).

The event opens with the 1983 film Hồi chuông màu da cam (The Ringing of the Orange Bell), directed by Nguyen Ngoc Trung. The film portrays the devastating consequences of war and was awarded the Silver Lotus at the 7th Vietnam Film Festival and the Lidice Rose Award at the Karlovy Vary International Film Festival.
On July 22, the program will feature Vành trăng khuyết (Crescent Moon), a 1996 drama directed by Tran Phuong, which follows the struggles of a veteran returning to civilian life after the war.
The event will conclude on July 23 with a screening of Đừng đốt (Don’t Burn), a 2009 film by Dang Nhat Minh based on the wartime diary of Hanoi-born martyr doctor Dang Thuy Tram. The film won the Golden Lotus at the 16th Vietnam Film Festival and was honored in six categories at the 2010 Golden Kite Awards.
The Vietnam Film Institute hopes the film series will help bridge generations, especially younger audiences, while deepening public understanding of the country’s history and paying tribute to those who sacrificed for the nation.
All screenings begin at 9:00 a.m. from July 21 to 23 at Ngoc Khanh Cinema in Hanoi.
