Vietnamese fairytales-inspired designs hit Chinese stage
VOV.VN - Vietnamese designer Nguyen Minh Cong has introduced Vietnamese fairy tales to international friends by debuting his latest collection on stage at the China Fashion Week for the Spring/Summer 2025 season which was recently held in Beijing.
Each design draws inspiration from the legends of father Lac Long Quan and mother Au Co, who are said to be the legendary ancestors of Vietnam, as well as Saint Giong, one of the nation’s heroes.
Furthermore, children also modeled a total of seven designs which aim to promote images of the beauty of Vietnamese culture and people to international friends.
The designer also introduced outfits featuring 12 flower seasons from across the country.
He set up the scene to recreate the folk game of dragon-snake played by Vietnamese children on the stage.
Minh Cong, 30, hails from the Mekong Delta province of Vinh Long. He took part in Project Runway programme in 2014 and finished among the Top 5.
In 2016 he designed a national costume for Nam Em to compete in the Miss Earth pageant held in the Philippines. One year later he was the designer of Ha Thu’s national costume in Miss Earth 2017.
China kicked off fashion week for the Spring/Summer 2025 season in Beijing on September 8, attracting more than 400 designers from six countries. It is scheduled to run till September 13.
This marks the first time that a Vietnamese designer has taken part in the fashion week, featuring the latest collection about fairy tales.
