Vietnamese culture on show at Japan’s Aichi festival

VOV.VN - A ‘Vietnam Festival in Aichi 2018 – Ho Chi Minh City Integration and Development’ program has been held in Nagoya City, Aichi Prefecture, attracting thousands of participants and particularly highlighting the twinned relations between HCM City and Aichi Prefecture, and between the two countries.

The festival running from April 6-8 included many art performances, water puppetry shows, local cuisine presentations, Ao dai fashion shows, and calligraphy displays. In addition, around 30 stands showcased HCM City’s potential across various fields, highlighting the area’s strength in cultural products, in particular handicraft products.

Addressing the event, chairman of the HCM City People’s Committee Nguyen Thanh Phong said the festival provided Aichi people with new perspectives of economics, culture, arts, and tourism in Vietnam and HCM City, helping to tighten the close ties of cooperation between the two localities and those between Vietnam and Japan.

Vietnamese Ambassador Nguyen Quoc Cuong said the event was of significance as the two countries, which are in their most flourishing period ever, are launching diverse activities marking the 45th anniversary of diplomatic ties.  The growing ties between localities have made positive contributions to strengthening the extensive and practical strategic partnership between the two countries.

HCM City and Aichi signed an agreement on establishing the ties of cooperation and friendship in 2016. As many as 70 out of 200 Aichi businesses operating in Vietnam, have invested in projects in HCM City. Around 23,000 Vietnamese people are working and studying in Aichi, and there are HCM- Aichi daily flights. All of these factors combine to provide a firm foundation for developing ever more productive cooperation ties between the two localities in future.
