Vietnamese-Canadian athlete wins skating championships

(VOV) -Nam Nguyen, a Vietnamese-Canadian athlete, has won men's single title at Canadian figure skating championships which is taking place in Kingston city, Ontario, Canada from January 19 to 25.

The 17-year-old boy opened with a successful performance and then reeled off eight triple jumps to score 256.88 overall points, ranking the first place at the competition.

He beat Patrick Chan who dominated men’s singles skating for years and won the seven previous national titles.

Jeremy Ten of Vancouver claimed silver with 222.58 points while Liam Firus of North Vancouver pocketed the bronze with 222.4 points.

 Previously, Nam took gold medal at world junior figure skating championships in 2014 and performed in the exhibition gala at the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver.
