Vietnamese booth impresses international friends at Francophone festival
VOV.VN - Vietnamese folk music, handicrafts, and traditional Ao Dai (long dress) were introduced at a Francophone festival that took place in Yèbles commune of Seine et Marne province, France, on March 23 - 24.
According to Ambassador Nguyen Thi Van Anh, permanent representative of Vietnam to the UN Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation (UNESCO), the festival helped to attract more foreign tourists to Vietnam as many seek to further explore the unique cultural identities of the country.
Yèbles Mayor Marieme Tamata-Varin said she was delighted that Vietnam joined the event as a guest of honour, providing a good chance for both locals and international visitors to gain a better understanding of the cultural identity of the Southeast Asian country.
The country’s presence as a member of the International Organisation of La Francophonie (OIF) had greatly contributed to the event’s success, she stressed.
The Vietnamese booth introduced bamboo items, handicrafts, silk products, “ao dai”, and water puppet items, among other souvenirs, that attracted the attention of visitors.
In particular, a special musical programme performed by Vietnamese students in France offered the audience a glance at the diverse range of cultures in the Southeast Asian country.
This year marked the fifth time that Yèbles had organised the Francophone festival to honour International Francophonie Day on March 20.
The biennial event was first held in 2015 and it drew over 40 OIF member countries and organisations in its 2024 edition.
