Vietnamese artists to appear in Norwegian play

VOV.VN - Several talented local artists from the Vietnam Youth Theater, including Thu Quynh, Luong Thu Trang, and Thanh Son, have been invited to perform in 'Hedda Gabler', a classic play which is considered to be one of the outstanding works of Norwegian writer Henrik Ibsen.

Directed by Japanese director Tsuyoshi Sugiyama, the play will serve as a new benchmark in the ongoing cultural collaboration between Norway, Vietnam, and Japan.

It will also help to promote literary and aesthetic values among Vietnamese audiences.

“Hedda Gabler” is named after its main character, with the story revolving around her own tragic life. Due to her dissatisfaction with losing aristocratic privileges after marrying into a bourgeoisie family, she creates plots and tries to manipulate people's lives. The path of Gabler's life and the conclusion of her story symbolises the position of a woman in a male-dominated society.

“Hedda Gabler” will debut on September 29 at the Vietnam Youth Theater.

It will also participate in the fifth International Experimental Theatre Festival which will take place in November in Hanoi.
