Vietnamese actress wins prize at AIFFA 2023

Kim B was born in 1989 in Bien Hoa in the southern province of Dong Nai. Most notably, she is not actually a professional actor but is instead a makeup artist. She has worked as makeup artist in a number of prestigious film projects, including "Kong: Skull Island" by director Jordan Roberts.

Kim Bao’s appearance in Đêm tối rực rỡ was her first role in the film industry.

Đêm tối rực rỡ is a movie created by American Aaron Toronto who picked up awards at the Golden Kite Awards 2022 granted by the Vietnam Cinema Association, including Best Feature Film and Best Cinematography, Best Leading Actress, Best Screen, and Best Supporting Actor.

The movie also brought home the best story and best female performance awards at the 2022 Santa Fe Film Festival in New Mexico, the USA.

The film focuses on the theme of domestic abuse and tells the story of the funeral of a grandfather whose family members believe that they have been left a fortune. His children soon discover that their father instead lost a fortune gambling and the mafia is coming to collect the debt which they must pay by sunrise or else there will be another funeral.

AIFFA was established in 2013 for ASEAN directors, cinematographers, actors, and fans to converge to celebrate excellent movies from the region.

This year  two Vietnamese movies, namely Memento Mori: Đất (Memento: Earth) and Đêm tối rực rỡ have been nominated in four categories of the ASEAN International Films Festivals & Awards 2023, which was held in Malaysia on August 4.
