Vietnam wins great success at Int’l Puppetry Festival
After seven days of competition at the third International Puppetry Festival held in Hanoi, Vietnam has won 2 golds and 3 silvers in the team event and 10 golds and 12 silvers in the individual event.
During the festival, there were 19 performances, including 8 by Vietnamese artists and 11 by foreign ones.
In the team event, two gold medals went to the Haiphong City Puppetry Art Troupe and Thang Long Water Puppetry Theatre and another one to the Indonesian artists.
Vietnam also received three silver medals for performances by the Vietnam Puppetry Theatre and the Ha Tinh Song and Dance troupe. While the Shan puppetry theatre from Taiwan (China) got one.
In the individual event, 14 gold medals were awarded to the best excellent artists, including ten Vietnamese.
A group from the Haiphong City Puppetry Art Troupe was awarded for its “Melodies of Time”. Gold medals were granted to artists Minh Toan, Thu Dung, Thu Hang, Huu Hiep, Van Chau and Hai Cau of the Vietnam Puppetry Theatre who performed “Aladdin and the Magic Lamp”.
Other gold medals went to the artists of Thang Long Water Puppetry Theatre.
Of 21 silver medals in the individual event, 12 went to the Vietnamese artists of the Haiphong City Puppetry Art Troupe, the Vietnam Puppetry Theatre, the Thang Long Water Puppetry Theatre, the Ha Tinh Song and Dance troupe and the Dak Lak Puppetry Ensemble.
In particular, the best stage director award was given to meritorious artist Vuong Duy Bien of the Haiphong City Puppetry Art Troupe.
The best artistic director award was for meritorious artist Hoang Tuan of the Thang Long Water Puppetry Theatre and the best graphic depicter award for meritorious artist Vuong Tat Loi of the Vietnam Puppetry Theatre.
Artist Phu Quang of the Haiphong City Puppetry Art Troupe won the best composer title.
The Kukla Istanbul puppetry theatre from Turkey received the best author award.
The fourth international puppetry festival will be held in 2014.
