Vietnam wins first FED Cup qualifying match
Vietnam defeated Singapore 3-0 on the first day of FED Cup qualifiers in Kazakhstan on February 4.
In the singles, Tran Thi Tam Hao overcame Geraldine Ang 6-0, 6-3, and national champion Huynh Phuong Dai Trang beat Rheeya Doshi 6-3, 6-0.
In the doubles rubber, duo Huynh Phi Khanh/Nguyen Ai Ngoc Van cruised past Rheeya Doshi/Khee Yen Wee 6-1, 6-3.
Vietnam’s next rivals will be New Zealand, one of the most powerful teams in their group for the Asia/Oceania zone.
In another tie, Hong Kong defeated Turkmenistan 3-0.
The qualifying round will conclude on February 10.
