Held in the coastal city of Penang from July 18 to 20 and endorsed by the World Association of Chefs’ Societies (Worldchefs), the event brought together over 400 competitors from across the globe. Vietnam’s 15-member delegation triumphed with a stunning medal haul of 16 gold, 5 silver, and 11 bronze, along with two major trophies, including the coveted Overall Championship Cup, the competition’s highest honour.

This marks the second time Vietnam has been honoured in an international competition organised by the world's leading culinary judging panel, further consolidating its position on the world’s gourmet map.

The Vietnamese team, composed of talented chefs from Ho Chi Minh City, Hanoi, Vinh Long, Phu Quoc, and Da Nang, was led by renowned pastry chef Le Thi Kieu Oanh. With professional support from culinary experts, the team impressed judges not only with their technical skills but also with their creativity and artistic flair.

During three intense days of competition, Vietnam’s entries stood out in categories ranging from wedding cakes and frozen desserts to artisan breads, sugar showpieces, and chocolate sculptures.

Among the standout performers was chef Duong Minh Tri, who claimed three individual gold medals and was named “Best Chef of the Competition”, a title rarely awarded and reserved for exceptional mastery and detail.
