Vietnam win more Asian Beach Games gold medal

Vietnam added one gold, one silver and three bronze medals at the Fourth Asian Beach Games in Phuket, Thailand, on November 17.

The women's woodball team won the gold by beating Thailand, 3-0, in the finals of the fairway event. Earlier, the team beat Chinese Taipei and China, 3-0, in the qualifying rounds. China and Chinese Taipei shared the bronze.

Earlier, the Vietnamese men's fairway team won the bronze medal. Thailand won the gold and Chinese Taipei won the silver.

Tran Le Thanh Thao won her silver medal in the petanque women's shooting category. She lost to Souksavat Khoun of Laos, 7-24, in the final match.

In the men's shooting event, Tran Ngoc Kiet finished third behind Cheng Zhi Ming of Singapore and Vongvone Bouadeng of Laos.

In wrestling, Luong Thi Sam won two and lost three matches in the women's over-60kg freestyle pool. She shared third place with Poonmart Banjong of Thailand.

With three gold, five silver and 14 bronze medals, Vietnam ranks ninth. Thailand, Japan and Mongolia took the top three positions.
