Vietnam showcases cultural heritage at Asian Day 2026 in Slovakia

VOV.VN - Vietnam has showcased its cultural heritage through traditional performances, Áo dài displays and handicrafts at Asian Day 2026 in Bratislava, Slovakia, joining other Asian countries in promoting cultural exchange and friendship with local communities.

The event was jointly organised by the Vietnamese Embassy and the embassies of China, India, Indonesia, Japan, Kazakhstan and Palestine in Slovakia at Hviezdoslavovo Square in the capital on October 11. It brought together representatives of the diplomatic corps, members of the Vietnamese community, international friends and local residents.

Speaking at the event, Vietnamese Ambassador to Slovakia Pham Truong Giang emphasised that the Asian Day has become a meaningful cultural gathering in Bratislava, helping strengthen mutual understanding, friendship and solidarity between the peoples of Asian countries and Slovakia.

Although each country has its own history, language and cultural identity, they share aspirations for peace, cooperation and development, he noted.

Introducing Vietnam to visitors, the ambassador highlighted the country’s long history and the cultural diversity shaped by the harmonious coexistence of its 54 ethnic groups. He expressed hope that the introduction would inspire greater interest in Vietnam and encourage visitors to explore its scenic landscapes, diverse heritage, appealing cuisine and hospitable people.

Performances by members of the Vietnamese community, including lion dances, Áo dài (traditional long dress) showcases and traditional artistic displays, attracted considerable attention and were warmly received by local audiences.

In addition to the performances, the Vietnamese booth also drew visitors with souvenirs and traditional decorative items reflecting the country’s cultural identity. Conversations and interactions at the booth provided further opportunities to introduce Vietnamese traditions and left visitors with an impression of a friendly and hospitable country.

Through performances, displays and personal exchanges, the Vietnamese community helped bring the country’s cultural heritage closer to the Slovak public while contributing to friendship between Vietnam and Slovakia.

The Asian Day provides a platform for participating countries to introduce their people, traditions and distinctive cultural identities. Performances combining martial arts, music and traditional dances, accompanied by colourful costumes, created a vibrant atmosphere and offered visitors an opportunity to discover Asia’s cultural diversity.
