A logo created by Nguyen Phuoc Duc from Ho Chi Minh City has won a contest designing logo and mascot for the 5th Asian Beach Games that Vietnam will host in 2016.
Duc’s design persuaded the jury with letter V stylised sea waves and a red sun running above the words “5th Asian Beach Games, Khanh Hoa, Viet Nam 2016”.
Meanwhile, Nguyen Can Truong from Hanoi was prized for his mascot design featuring swallow – the bird typical for Nha Trang, Khanh Hoa, where all competitions of the Games will take place.
Launched by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism’s Sport Administration in April 2012, the contest received 198 works across the nation, including 155 logo and 43 mascot designs.
According to Deputy Minister Le Khanh Hai, the contest organising board will send the results to the Asian Olympic Council to decide.
After officially chosen, the logo and mascot will be made public and used throughout the event.
Held for the first time in Vietnam, the 5th ABG will see the participation of athletes from 45 countries and territories.
