Vietnam, RoK reinforce co-operation in culture, sports and tourism

VOV.VN - Vietnam and the Republic of Korea (RoK) on December 14 signed a cultural exchange programme to celebrate the 30th founding anniversary of bilateral diplomatic ties that will fall in 2022.

Signatories to the document were Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Nguyen Van Hung and his Korean counterpart Hwang Hee.

Under the document, the two sides will jointly organise cultural and tourism promotion events such as a Vietnam-RoK culture and food festival, Korean days in Vietnam, Vietnamese culture and tourism week in the RoK, and a Korean film week in Vietnam.

They will focus on co-operation in cultural heritage preservation, by doing research on intangible cultural heritages, and excavating and researching marine cultural heritages.

On sports, Minister Hung thanked the Korean side for creating favourable conditions for Vietnamese sports teams to train and compete in the RoK, and for providing coaches for various Vietnamese teams, ranging from football to archery, shooting, and taekwondo.

In particular, under the guidance of head coach Park Hang-seo, all Vietnamese Olympic, U23, and senior teams enjoyed several great successes in many global tournaments.

Hung also suggested that the RoK side support tourism cooperation between the two countries as soon as Vietnam resumes international air routes slated for January 2022.

For his part, Minister Hwang recalled President Moon Jae-in’s statement that the RoK attaches importance to relations with Vietnam in its New Southern Policy. He affirmed that with many things in common, both countries have great potential for stronger cooperation in culture, sports and tourism, as well as other areas.

The document was signed in Seoul on December 14 on the sidelines of the Vietnam National Assembly Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue’s visit to Seoul.
