Vietnam, RoK promote copyright cooperation
(VOV) - Vietnam and the Republic of Korea (RoK) on May 30 signed a memorandum of understanding in Hanoi, establishing cooperative ties in copyright and related rights.
The two sides aim to develop a comprehensive framework for judicial protection of copyright and related rights, such as patent infringement, which in turn will lead to a more creative industry and culture between the two countries.
Participants discussed issues related to copyrights laws and policies of Vietnam and the RoK, current situation of collective management organisations and cooperation between the two countries’ organisations, development policies and copyrights industry and introduction of copyright protection technology.
They proposed some specific solutions in line with rapid changes in copyright environment in the region and the world.
Copyrights and related rights play an important role in economic, culture and social development of each country; they also help stimulate human development and progress.
In Vietnam, copyrights targets are clearly prescribed in the national cultural development strategy by 2020. Copyright protection in the integration process is an essential issue which promotes creativeness, ensures legitimacy of writers and authors, and creates an equal and healthy competitive environment.
