Vietnam placed first at Sudirman Cup’s group 3B
(VOV) - Vietnamese badminton players defeated Switzerland 3-2 in group 3B in the final match of the qualifying round of the world team championships (Sudirman Cup) in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia on May 23.
In the mixed doubles event, Tuan Duc/Thu Huyen lost 12-21 and 14-21 to Dumartheray Anthony/Jaquet Sabrina in the first and second sets, respectively.
In the women’s singles event, Vu Thi Trang also lost 1-2 to Jaquet Sabrina.
However, in the men’s doubles event, Hoang Nam/Bao Duc defeated Gilles Tripet/Florian Schmid 2-0.
In the men’s singles, Tien Minh beat Lukas Nussbaumer 2-0 just after 21 minutes, while in the women’s doubles event, Vu Thi Trang/Nguyen Thi Sen also defeated Tiffany Zaugg/Ayla Huser 2-0.
Topping group 3B the Vietnamese team is scheduled to meet the leading team of group 3A on May 24.
