Vietnam National Symphony Orchestra opens 2026/27 season on March 1
VOV.VN - The Vietnam National Symphony Orchestra will launch its 2026/27 season at 8 p.m. on March 1 at the Grand Concert Hall of the Vietnam National Academy of Music in Hanoi, under the baton of Honna Tetsuji and featuring Finnish pianist Henri Sigfridsson as soloist.
The concert includes Franz Liszt’s Les préludes (S.97) and Rachmaninov’s Piano Concerto No. 2.
Henri Sigfridsson is regarded as one of Europe’s most sought-after soloists and chamber musicians. He has performed with leading Finnish orchestras and ensembles worldwide, won major prizes at prestigious international competitions, and appeared in numerous notable concerts.
On the occasion, the orchestra also announced a series of 10 subscription concerts for the 2026/27 season. The season is structured around key artistic themes, including cycles dedicated to Haydn (four concerts) and Tchaikovsky (three concerts), alongside major works by composers such as Dvorak, Mahler, Wagner, Rachmaninov, Mozart and Ravel, reflecting the historical depth and stylistic diversity of Western classical music.
The 2026 programs will feature works long anticipated by classical music audiences, including Rachmaninov’s Piano Concertos No. 2 and No. 3; Ravel’s Piano Concerto in G major; Tchaikovsky’s Symphonies No. 4, No. 5 and No. 6; Dvorak’s Symphonies No. 8 and No. 9 “From the New World”; and Mahler’s Das Lied von der Erde.
