Vietnam National Day honoured at World Expo 2020 Dubai

VOV.VN - Vietnam National Day at EXPO 2020 Dubai was officially launched following the Vietnamese national flag raising ceremony held at Al Wasl square in Dubai, the United Arab Emirates (UAE), on December 30.

In his remarks, Vietnamese Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Ta Quang Dong affirmed that Vietnam’s presence at the EXPO ‘promotes an image of a dynamic country and helps bring Vietnam closer to more than 191 other countries around the world’.

He thanked the UAE and EXPO 2020 organisers for their special support to Vietnam in its preparation and participation in the event.

Right at the ceremony, delegates and the audience enjoyed a special art program featuring traditional art genres such as UNESCO-recognised Quan Ho (duet singing), as well as circus pieces staged by artists from various Vietnamese art troupes.

Various activities were held within the framework of Vietnam National Day to popularize Vietnam as a beautiful country with diverse culture, delicate cuisine, and numerous tourist attractions, as well as investment cooperation opportunities.

As part of the programme, a fashion and art show entitled ‘The Eternal Flow’ attracted the participation of more than 150 Vietnamese and international beauty queens, models, artists, and artisans that turned Al Wasl Dome Square into a giant performing stage.

They introduced three collections designed by Ly Quy Khanh, Vu Viet Ha and Diego Chula, and put on a series of spectacular performances of music, dance, circus, and drums.

The same day, a Vietnamese Film Week was launched in Dubai, introducing to local cinemagoers to a number of national and international award winning Vietnamese films.

They include Bo Gia (Dad, I’m sorry), Hai Phuong (Furie), Cha Cong Con (Father carries son), Mat Biec (Dreamy Eyes), Cuoc Doi Cua Yen (Yen’s life), Co Ba Sai Gon (The Tailor), and Hoa Vang Tren Co Xanh  (Yellow Flowers on the Green Grass)

On this occasion, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Vietnam and the Ministry of Culture and Youth of the UAE signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) on cultural cooperation.

The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Vietnam’s Department of International Cooperation and ITL World - an award winning leading Travel Management Company of the Eram Group – also signed an MoU on promoting the Vietnamese culture and tourism in the Middle East.
