Vietnam nabs five gold medals at Para Games

(VOV) - Following three days of competition at the ongoing second Asian Para Games in Incheon, Vietnam stands at 5 gold, 6 silver and 3 bronze medals in the medal tally, placing ninth overall in the rankings.

On the first day of competition, Vietnam won a gold medal when weightlifter Nguyen Binh An set a new Asian record of 179kg in the men’s 54kg event.

Vietnamese swimmer Vo Thanh Tung alone achieved two gold medals, one in the 50m backstroke and another in the 200 freestyle event.

In the first Asian Para Games held in China in 2010, Vietnam earned three gold medals.
