Vietnam medalless at 2013 Summer Universiade
(VOV) - Vietnam has yet to win any medals at the 2013 Summer Universiade currently underway in the Russian city of Kazan.
Vietnamese athletes have thus far completed their four registered sports (track-and-field, gymnastics, table tennis, and chess) out of the competition’s ten events.
Vietnamese table tennis players were unable to progress beyond even the first round.
The nation finished 18th out of the 34 countries competing in gymnastics.
Track-and-field athletes were also eliminated in only the first round.
Out of 71 chess competitors, Vietnam’s representatives managed 21st.
The 2013 Summer Universiade remains an opportunity for Vietnamese athletes to gain experience while strengthening friendship and solidarity with international friends.
The 12-day tournament, involving over 10,400 university athletes representing 162 countries, will conclude on July 17.
