Vietnam – Korea cultural exchange held in Uijeongbu
VOV.VN - Vietnamese expatriates in the Republic of Korea (RoK) converged on Uijeongbu, a north-western city in the RoK, on May 7 for a cultural exchange as part of activities to celebrate 31 years of diplomatic ties between the two countries.
Addressing the programme, Mai Thi Hong Ngoc, president of the Vietnam Women’s Union in the RoK, noted that the cultural exchange aimed to promote mutual friendship and understanding, as well as to popularize cultural values of the two countries.
The Vietnam - Korea Cultural Exchange also presents an opportunity for Vietnamese expatriates to express their national pride, constantly improve their cultural and spiritual life, and promote Vietnamese culture to the host community, stressed Ngoc.
In his speech, Vietnamese Ambassador to the RoK Nguyen Vu Tung appreciated the Vietnam Women’s Union in the RoK organizing this programme to contribute to cultural exchanges between the two countries.
He briefed participants on the positive development in the Vietnam – RoK relations, saying the two countries’ top leaders have agreed to upgrade the Vietnam – RoK relations to a comprehensive strategic partnership, creating a legal corridor for enhancing bilateral cooperation in the coming decades.
The programme comprised a singing contest, performances of traditional music instruments, folk games, painting on Vietnam’s conical hats, and a display of food delicacies, attracting hordes of people of the two countries, especially from Vietnam – Korea multicultural families.
During the programme, the Uijeongpu Support Centre for Foreign Workers in collaboration with the Vietnamese Labor Management Office the RoK provided consultation services for workers. The organizers and sponsors also awarded five scholarships to disadvantaged students.
