Vietnam hosts SEA Junior Athletics Championships

As many as 220 young athletes in the region are expected to take part in the 2013 Southeast Asian Junior Athletics Championships, which will open in Ho Chi Minh City on June 7.

Competitors from Thailand, Brunei, Malaysia, Indonesia, the Philippines and Singapore, together with the host Vietnam, will compete for 60 sets of medals, including 36 medals for teenagers aged under 18, and 24 medals for those aged 18-21.

The competition offers an excellent opportunity for young athletes to sharpen their skills before the 2014 Youth Olympic Games and the 2014 Asian Youth Games.

The two-day event is co-hosted by HCM City’s Department of Culture, Sports, and Tourism, and Athletics Federation.
