Vietnam enters top 10 of Asian Para Games

(VOV) - Vietnam on October 23 climbed into the top 10 at the Asian Para Games being held in the Republic of Korea, earning another gold and five more bronze medals.

Vietnamese swimmer Trinh Thi Bich Nhu claimed a silver medal in the women’s 50m butterfly S6 category after clocking 41s71. So far, Vietnam swimming team has won 7 gold, 4 silver and 4 bronze medals.

On the same day, Vietnamese athletes brought home five more bronze medals in track-and-field and table-tennis.

Vietnam ranks 10th on the overall medal tally at the tourney with 9 gold, 7 silver and 13 bronze medals.

If the team holds on to finish in the top 10, it would be a great improvement over last year’s performance, said head of Vietnam delegation Vu The Phiet.

In the first Asian Para Games held in China in 2010, Vietnam earned only three gold medals.

The closing ceremony of the 2014 Asian Para Games is slated for 3pm (local time) on October 24 in Munhak Stadium.
