Vietnam dominates int’l Windsurf Race

Vietnamese windsurfers won first prizes in both the men’s and women’s categories at the 2013 International Windsurf Race (14th Fun Cup) that closed in the central province of Binh Thuan on February 23.

Nguyen Van Rot finished first in the men’s event, followed by Ho Van Vinh from Vietnam and Tanguy Gilles from France.

In the women’s event, Tran Thi Kim Chi from Vietnam became the winner. The runners-up were Montserrat Collado Orive from Spain and Deborah Khoo from Singapore.

The two-day competition drew about 30 windsurfers from nine countries competing in races from 2,400m to 3,200m.

Binh Thuan – an ideal venue for windsurfing - has hosted a number of tournaments, including the annual Fun Cup International Windsurf Race and the Professional Windsurfers Association's World Cup.

The province has been selected to organise the 5th Asian Beach Games in 2016.
