Vietnam missed out on a place in the Asian Football Federation U19 Women’s Football Championship finals despite a 3-1 win over Chinese Taipei in the last group match on December 5.
Vietnam only finished second in the pool with six points.
With the win, the team previously lost 2-1 to Myanmar in the opening game but bounced back strongly to thrash India 10-0.
Myanmar topped the group with seven points after wins over Vietnam and India and a draw against Chinese Taipei.
Myanmar will face Thailand in the final on December 9 to decide the winner of the qualifiers.
The winners of the qualifiers secure the only ticket to the finals and get a chance to compete against the five powerhouses: Japan, Australia, China, the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea and the Republic of Korea.
The final round of the AFC championship will be held next year.
