Vietnam defeated at int’l futsal champs

Vietnam lost 1-2 to Japan in their first match at the Ho Chi Minh City International Futsal Tournament at the Phu Tho Gymnasium on November 20.

Japan scored two consecutive goals in the 15th and 16th minutes. Though Vietnam's Van Vu narrowed the scoring one minute later, he failed to equalise it despite his teammates’ attacks and home fans’ support.

This is the second win for Japan at the four-side tournament. The Asian champions defeated Thailand 3-0 in their opening match on November 19.

In the next match, Japan will play world champions Brazil while Vietnam will meet Thailand. Earlier, Brazil defeated Asian first runners-up Thailand 5-1.

The November 19-22 tournament will provide a bonus of US$5,000 to the winners. The two runners-up will receive US$3,000 and US$1,000.
