Vietnam Cultural Week underway in Cambodia

VOV.VN - The Vietnam Cultural Week opened at Chakto Muk Theatre in Phnom Penh, Cambodia on the evening of September 11 in the presence of Vietnamese and Cambodian officials and a large number of locals and Vietnamese residents in Cambodia.

Addressing the opening ceremony, Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Le Khanh Hai congratulated Cambodia on the success of the general election and the setting up of the 6th Parliament and Government for the 2018-2023 tenure.

The annual cultural programs play an important role in fostering bilateral friendship and solidarity and mutual understanding and contributing to socio-economic development in each country, said Mr Hai, adding that Vietnam desires to introduce Cambodian people and international friends to the beauty of Vietnam’s culture through art performances.

On behalf of the Royal Government of Cambodia, Minister of Culture and Fine Arts Phoeurng Sackona said Vietnam and Cambodia are neighbouring countries with traditional friendship and long-lasting cooperation in all fields.

The annual cultural week has contributed to intensifying sound bilateral relations between the two countries, the Minister said.

During the week from September 10-15, Vietnamese art troupes will present art performances in Phnom Penh and Battambang.
