Vietnam, Cuba boost publishing cooperation
(VOV) - Vietnam and Cuba have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to strengthen bilateral cooperation in publication.
The document was signed in Hanoi on March 26 by representatives of the Vietnamese Ministry of Information and Communications (MIC) and CBI, during a March 24-28 visit by a delegation from the Cuba Book Institute (CBI).
Under the MoU, MIC and CBI will send two representatives to each other biennially to discuss cooperation measures. They will present copyrights of five books to each other and coordinate in organising seminars on books and book exhibitions.
The two sides will create the best possible conditions for their publishers to establish direct relations to provide mutual technical support and professional experience and publication promotion of each country.

MIC Deputy Minister Truong Minh Tuan noted the MoU will provide people from both countries with the opportunity to gain a better understanding of their cultures, to protect, maintain and promote cultural identities, independence, and sovereignty as well as building and developing socialism in the new period.
CBI Director Zuleica Romay Guerra expressed her wish that the two sides will continue to cooperate closely in publishing and printing based on the signed MoU.
Many Cuban books which have been translated into Vietnamese will be introduced at the Cuba Book Festival in February 2015, she said, hoping Vietnam will attend and showcase other books at the event.
