VOV.VN - Vietnam was admitted on March 31 to the Paris-based World Folklore Union (IGF) as its 56th member at the organization’s plenary session.
IGF President Dorel Cosma said the membership will offer Vietnam more opportunities to introduce its folklore at the activities held or sponsored by the IGF.
Vietnam and other members can share their cultural treasures and know more typical identities of various nations.
Addressing the admission ceremony, Vietnamese Ambassador to France Nguyen Ngoc Son said the Vietnamese culture harmoniously embraces cultural values of 54 ethnic groups in Vietnam.
Vietnam has 11 UNESCO-recognized heritages, 9 of which are the World Intangible Cultural Heritages and Oral Masterpieces of Humanity and 2 others in urgent need of protection.
