Vietnam attends MONDIACULT conference on cultural policies in Spain

VOV.VN - A delegation of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism (MOCST) led by Minister Nguyen Van Hung joined delegates from 165 countries and territories at the UNESCO World Conference on Cultural Policies and Sustainable Development (MONDIACULT) 2025 held in Barcelona, Spain, from September 29-October 1.

Following the opening ceremony, Hung attended a ministerial-level discussion organised by UNESCO and the European Union (EU), focusing on culture as a catalyst for sustainable development.

In his remarks, the Minister affirmed that the Party and State of Vietnam have consistently attached great importance to cultural and human development, placing culture on an equal footing with economics and politics, and making it a central pillar of national policies and strategies aimed at achieving the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. He emphasised that Vietnam prioritises building cultural policies based on data, indicators, and practical assessments to address emerging needs and support deeper international integration.

This, he stressed, ensures better responsiveness to the country’s increasingly profound international integration.

The Minister also shared Vietnam’s practical experience with the Trang An Landscape Complex in Ninh Binh province, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Delegates highly appreciated Vietnam’s serious implementation of international commitments and the successful application of models and initiatives such as those in Trang An. The Minister of Culture of Panama regarded Trang An as a prime example for his country to study and apply in practice, as this model integrates heritage preservation with tourism development.

Within the framework of the MONDIACULT 2025 Conference, the Vietnamese delegation will engage in another discussion session on the cultural economy on the afternoon of October 1 (local time).

Earlier, on September 29, Dr. Nguyen Phuong Hoa, director of the Department of International Cooperation, also represented Vietnam at a dialogue on a sustainable pathway for the future of culture and arts organised by the International Federation of Arts Councils and Culture Agencies (IFACCA) and the Spanish Ministry of Culture.
