Vietnam among top 15 best countries for food in the world

VOV.VN - Vietnam has secured the fourth place on the list of best countries for food in the world in the 2025 Readers’ Choice Awards by the US-based travel magazine Condé Nast Traveler.

This year’s rankings were determined based on travelers’ culinary experiences and preferences, with all countries on the list earning an average score of 94% or higher. Vietnam received an impressive 96.67%, placing just behind Thailand (98.33%), Italy (96.92%), and Japan (96.77%).

The result reaffirms Vietnam’s growing reputation on the global culinary scene, as its vibrant cuisine continues to captivate the taste buds of international travelers.

The magazine notes that while the iconic images of Vietnam’s lush, striped rice paddies are familiar to many, they only hint at the freshness of the local ingredients. Rice comes in all shapes and sizes, steaming bowls, delicate vermicelli noodles, paper rolls, but is always topped with locally grown vegetables, tender meats, and a potent herby scent.

Describing Vietnam as a street food paradise, Condé Nast Traveler praised the incredible variety found across the country, from the bustling Cai Rang floating market in Can Tho city to hidden gems like Xom Chieu alley in Ho Chi Minh City. These spots offer some of the best Vietnamese dishes at remarkably affordable prices, making them beloved by both locals and backpackers.

Alongside well-known culinary experiences, the magazine highlights the growing prominence of Vietnam’s high-end dining scene. Notably, Ciel Dining in Ho Chi Minh City was named among the best new restaurants of 2025.

This year’s ranking highlights a diverse blend of culinary traditions from Asia, Europe, and South America, underscoring the growing role of food in shaping the travel experiences of global tourists. Countries featured on the list include Türkiye, France, Morocco, Colombia, the Maldives, Peru, South Africa, Greece, Sri Lanka, New Zealand, and Spain.
