Vietnam aims for int’t volleyball cup title

(VOV) - The national women’s volleyball team has set a target of winning the VTV-Eximbank Cup 2013 to be held in the northern province of Ninh Binh from July 13-20.

Team coach Pham Van Long said Vietnam will play powerhouses such as Australia, Kazakhstan, Thailand, and China’s Shangdong and Jiangsu.

The tournament is apparently competitive as visiting teams have strong players besides prospective young faces, Long said.

Vietnam will be represented by veterans, including Pham Kim Hue, Nguyen Thi Ngoc Hoa, Pham Thi Yen, Ha Thi Hoa, Nguyen Thi Xuan and Do Thi Minh who are in good form.

Some younger players, such as Au Hong Nhung, Bui Thi Nga and Bui Thi Diem, will have an opportunity to gain experience in preparation for the 27th SEA Games to take place in Myanmar later this year.

VTV-Eximbank Cup 2013 draws the participation of six teams and the four best teams will earn a ticket to the semi-finals.
