Vietfest 2015 brings taste of Vietnam’s culture to Australia

Vietfest 2015, a Vietnamese heritage festival, has opened at Australian National University (ANU) in Canberra, giving visitors a kaleidoscope of Vietnam’s culture.

A traditional and modern Vietnam was reflected in the rhythms of folk music and games, a display of handicrafts, traditional customs and pictures of the country and people.

A stall showcasing Vietnam’s traditional food also attracted crowds.

Proceeds will be donated to the club “For beloved Hoang Sa-Truong Sa” and the Vu A Dinh scholarship fund in support of coast guards, fishermen and poor students.

Ambassador Luong Thanh Nghi said in his speech that the event is meant to introduce Vietnam, its culture and people to international friends.

The event was co-hosted by the Vietnamese Youth & Students’ Association in Canberra and the Vietnam Students’ Association at ANU.
