Vienna Chamber Orchestra back to Hanoi for November concerts
VOV.VN - The Vienna Chamber Orchestra, one of the world’s finest chamber orchestras, is set to return to Hanoi, Vietnam, for Vienna Concert 2026 at Ho Guom Opera House on November 7 - 8.
The renowned orchestra will celebrate its 80th anniversary with a programme combining symphonic works, opera, Viennese waltzes and polkas, and contemporary compositions.
The two concerts will bring together internationally acclaimed musicians to explore the rich heritage of European classical music alongside contemporary creativity.
The orchestra will be joined by composer, pianist and conductor Alma Deutscher, as well as two distinguished opera singers: baritone Adrian Eröd and mezzo-soprano Nadezhda Karyazina.
The first concert on November 7 will introduce the audience to symphonic works by Ludwig van Beethoven and Franz Schubert, including Beethoven’s Symphony No. 8 and Schubert’s Symphony No. 4.
The programme will also showcase compositions by Alma Deutscher before moving into a diverse operatic repertoire featuring works by Georges Bizet, Johann Strauss II, Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky, Richard Wagner and Gioachino Rossini. The performances will feature Eröd and Karyazina.
The second concert on November 8 will celebrate the distinctive character of Viennese music with Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart’s Symphony No. 41, known as Jupiter, and the overture to his opera Don Giovanni, alongside Johann Strauss II’s Kaiser-Walzer (Emperor Waltz).
Two compositions by Deutscher, Siren Sounds Waltz and Grinzinger Polka, will add a contemporary dimension to the programme. The evening will conclude with operatic excerpts by Mozart and Franz Lehár.
Together, the two performances promise contrasting musical experiences, bringing the grandeur of symphonic and operatic traditions into dialogue with the elegance of Viennese dance music and the work of a contemporary composer.
