Venezuela values Vietnam’s initiative to host International Day of Culture and Arts
VOV.VN - Vietnam’s initiative to host the International Day of Culture and Arts in Hanoi on October 4-5 has drawn strong international support, including from Venezuela, which regards the event as a practical contribution to fostering solidarity, mutual understanding and sustainable development.

At a recent meeting with Vietnamese Ambassador to Venezuela Vu Trung My, Venezuelan Minister of Culture Ernesto Villegas said Vietnam’s role in staging a large-scale international cultural event demonstrates its growing leadership in promoting global cultural exchange and integration. He added that the event will place people at its centre, with culture as the foundation and art as the bond linking nations.
Villegas said Venezuela will send a distinguished art troupe to Vietnam, including the traditional music group Tamboriprimo, a fixture of local music for more than 25 years. Notably, artist and member of the National Assembly of Venezuela Alí Alejandro Primera, nephew of the late musician and revolutionary Ali Primera, will bring melodies long associated with Vietnam through the figure of Ho Chi Minh. Songs such as Mãi mãi Hồ Chí Minh (Forever Ho Chi Minh), Chân dung Hồ Chí Minh (Portrait of Ho Chi Minh) and Người phụ nữ Việt Nam (Vietnamese Woman) will be performed as a tribute and a cultural bridge between the two peoples.
Ambassador Vu Trung My welcomed Venezuela’s participation, saying the presence of the Venezuelan troupe will be a meaningful highlight that adds colour to the cultural festival and strengthens the traditional friendship between Vietnam and Venezuela.
According to the ambassador, the International Day of Culture and Arts will take place at the Imperial Citadel of Thang Long, a UNESCO World Heritage site. The programme will include performances, fine arts exhibitions, fashion shows, film screenings, culinary showcases and an international book fair. With the motto "Culture as the foundation, art as the means," organizers intend the event to become an annual cultural diplomacy initiative of international scale, infused with Vietnamese identity.
At the meeting, Ambassador Vu presented Minister Ernesto Villegas with several works by President Ho Chi Minh, including Prison Diary and Ho Chi Minh’s Military Thought, as a symbolic gift reflecting cultural ties and shared values.
Vu added that in the revered setting of the Imperial Citadel of Thang Long, when Venezuelan melodies join rhythms and voices from across the world, Hanoi will serve not only as a cultural rendezvous but also as a sign of confidence that culture, through its deep humanistic power, can help illuminate the path to peace, friendship and common development.
