Van Nistelrooy brings UEFA Cup to Vietnam
(VOV) -Former Manchester United FC, Real Madrid FC and Netherlands striker Ruud van Nistelrooy arrived in HCM City on April 3, bringing the UEFA Champions League Trophy to Vietnam.
He was welcomed at Tan Son Nhat International Airport by crowds of Vietnamese football fans, with many of them wearing the traditional jersey of Manchester United FC.
Together with former Arsenal FC winger Robert Pires, Van Nistelrooy will make a tour of Vietnam to display the UEFA trophy to local fans.
The trophy procession will take place later the same day, travelling past major streets of HCM City.
Fans are due to see the cup and talk with Van Nistelrooy on April 4 and Robert Pires on April 5.
The two former football stars will fly to Hanoi on April 6 for an exchange with football fans before returning to their homes.
Fans will have an opportunity to win 10 free tickets to watch the final match of the UEFA champion league 2014 in Lisbon, Portugal, and 14 tickets to participate in a leading world football festival in Ibiza, Spain.
After Vietnam, Van Nistelrooy and Robert Pires will bring the trophy to Nigeria and Argentina in a three-nation tour sponsored by Heineken.
