US media hails Victor Vu’s film blockbuster ahead of Reunification Day

VOV.VN - Renowned Vietnamese filmmaker Victor Vu is making a return to the horror genre with his latest movie, Thám tử Kiên: Kỳ án không đầu (Detective Kien: Headless Horror), which is expected to be a major blockbuster for Vietnam’s Reunification Day holiday, according to US entertainment website Deadline.

In a recent article, Deadline highlighted that the big-budget mystery horror marks the comeback of Victor Vu, who previously gained recognition for several critically acclaimed romantic dramas.

Starring Quoc Huy, Dinh Ngoc Diep, and Quoc Anh, the suspenseful horror film is currently in post-production and is set to premiere in Vietnam on April 30, just in time for the national holiday.

The article noted that the film captivates audiences with its gripping atmosphere, immersing viewers in a world of suspense and spine-chilling thrills.

"Each moment builds into an atmosphere taut with anxiety, a haunting melody of suspense where the thrill is a dangerous, heart-pounding brush with the unknown," Deadline wrote.

The script, developed over two years, is based on the novel The Lake of Vengeance and is set in Vietnam’s northern uplands 200 years ago. The story follows a town where residents have mysteriously vanished, unraveling a terrifying secret buried in history.
