Un Ai Rak festival lively with visitors

Citizens from Bangkok and the provinces have been showing a keen interest in the Un Ai Rak Khlai Kwam Nao Streams of Rattanakosin Fair now taking place in front of Dusit Palace and Sanam Sua Pa.

The fair was initiated by His Majesty the King and has adopted a retro theme. The fair grounds have been decorated with a variety of flowers with moats and canals added to the area to simulate Thailand’s close relationship to water during the Rattanakosin era. The streams also symbolize the works and achievements of Thailand’s monarchs.

The fair is the second to be held under His Majesty the King and will continue until January 19, 2019. It has attracted visitors from both Bangkok and the provinces and saw a jump in visitor numbers on the Constitution Day holiday.

Visitors often wear classic Thai dress in keeping with the event’s theme and engage in activities such as retro photography and viewing recreations of important royal features from the past. At Sanam Sua Pa, the fair offers a variety of food choices displayed in classic market formats, as well as a charity raffle.

The fair takes place from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Sundays-Thursdays and 10a.m. to 10p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays.
