UK provides sport expertise to Vietnam

(VOV) - UK officials and experts have shared their experience in organizing the recent London 2012 Olympics and Para-Olympics with Vietnam which will host the 2019 Asian Games (ASIAD).

In a roundtable in Hanoi on June 12, British Minister of Trade and Investment Lord Green said ASIAD 18 is a good chance for Vietnam to introduce itself to the world, and to realize the target, the country needs to draw up a specific roadmap, aiming to make the sporting event a great success, attract tourists and develop economy.

Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Le Khanh Hai said Vietnam is completing draft plans for building and upgrading infrastructure to serve the Games. He highly valued the professional UK expertise in organizing big international sports events, hoping it can help Vietnam in preparation for the upcoming Asian Games.

Hai proposed that relevant agencies of the two countries work closely together to put forward a specific cooperation programme to successfully organise the 2019 ASIAD in Hanoi as well as other big international sports events in the future.
