U14 girls triumph at regional football tournament
Vietnam won an emphatic 7-1 victory over Malaysia in the opening match of the Asian Football Confederation U14 Girls’ Regional Championship (ASEAN zone) in Ho Chi Minh City on June 18.
Six teams from Cambodia, Malaysia, Myanmar, the Philippines, Thailand and the host Vietnam will play in the round-robin tournament to select the top team for the final round of the Asian Championship.
The host team includes almost all the players from the squad which won a bronze medal at the Asian Women’s U13 Football Championship last year.
The tournament, which is taking place at the Thong Nhat stadium, will run until June 23.
